2026 Minimum Compensation for Exempt Licensed Physicians/Surgeons and Computer Software Engineers
A prior legal update provided guidance regarding California’s 2026 state-wide minimum wage increase, its impact on other forms of compensation, minimum wages in the fast food and healthcare industries, and local minimum wage rates.
In addition to those minimum wage increases, California’s minimum compensation for the overtime exemptions applicable to licensed physicians and surgeons and computer software employees also increases for 2026.
To be exempt from overtime, licensed physicians and surgeons must be paid $107.17 per hour and computer software employees must be paid $58.85 per hour. Computer software employees may also be exempt from overtime if they are paid a salary of $122,573.13 per year or $10,214.44 per month.
